Born and raised in BC, Jaron spent much of his youth exploring the grasslands, rivers, and lakes of the Thompson-Okanagan. At the age of 18 he moved to New Zealand and experienced the big mountains for the first time; the Southern Alps sparked a natural affinity for remoteness & high places.
At a small, chossy crag outside of Christchurch, Jaron was introduced to the the vertical world. In classic style, he was instantly hooked. After a few years spent working as a carpenter and for a non-profit throughout Oceania and Asia, Jaron returned home. With Squamish, The Creek, J-Tree, and Yosemite Valley in his sights, he shoved his climbing gear and a sleeping bag into a ’89 Honda and set off. These dirtbag days solidified an appreciation for simple living and community.
Jaron calls Squamish BC home. Besides being a climber, he is also a photographer, creative, carpenter, and musician. You may find Jaron wandering the forests, climbing rocks with his friends, or chasing light through his camera lens…or you just might even catch him with the wheels of his ’87 Tercel pointed south, headed for the Yosemite.
