Sophie Buitendyk is 22 years old and currently resides in Victoria, BC, where she studies Geography at the University of Victoria.  Sophie started climbing when she was eight after joining the youth team at Project Climbing Center in Abbotsford. Her time on the youth team fuelled her love for the movement, challenge, and community involved in climbing. As Sophie got older, she began to climb outside and grew to love and appreciate the outdoors, as a way to get away from the business of daily life. Her home climbing gym is now Boulderhouse, which has locations in Victoria and Langford. Along with climbing, Sophie has had the opportunity to route set at Boulder House with an amazing crew of creative route setters. Her favourite style of climbing is typically technical, body position intensive climbing on overhang. However, lately she’s really enjoyed working on comp-style coordination moves!
