Marcus Baranow was born and raised in North Bay Ontario where he grew up resort and backcountry skiing and snowboarding in Ontario and Quebec.
For most of his adult life Marcus has dedicated his life to exploring, mapping and documenting the backcountry ski areas in and around Banff National Park. He has published four guidebooks covering everything from roadside stashes to rarely skied peaks along the Continental Divide and skis upwards to 150 days a year almost exclusively in the Canadian Rockies. His “Confessions” blog, MIN reports and social media are considered rich sources of information for newcomers, weekend warriors and ACMG guides alike.
Marcus currently lives in Lake Louise Alberta where he enjoys spending time with his cat Tom Tom, waiting for Elder Scrolls VI to be released and exploring the mountains on skis with friends.
